How to stop dark spells please! - Guild Wars Forums

I would like to know what is the best way for an elemental/ranger to best stop the damage from dark spells like conjour and stuff. is there a rune or item that can help?

Conjure's give elemental damage of the appropriate type...
Do you mean Shadow damage, like from necromancer spells? Or the whole category of skills that generally ignore defence, such as Chaos, Shadow, Drain, and Holy? (In skill form, not weapon attributes)

As they ignore damage, if that's what you mean, there're only 2 ways to affect them:
Skills that directly influence damage taken - Life Bond, Shielding Hands, etc. None of which are available to you. Same goes for absorption runes, which you can't wear.
Stop the skills at the source - Obsidian Flesh, not sure what else. Mist form will protect you from attacks of all kinds, including those attributes, but weapons tend not to gain the abilities those attributes already have. Besides, some may override it. Illusionary weaponry, for example, won't trigger defensive skills such as Reversal of Fortune or Holy Wrath.

In general, for all that they ignore defence, the skills tend to be pretty weak, and there's not too much you can do about it...

And I could be totally off mark on what you're talking about o.O
Could you elaborate a little for me? That dark + conjure thing really throws me off. Sorry

You can use your ranger's troll unguent to counter DOTs.

Sorry guys, I was not sure who to say it, yeah, i believe it is the health degenration, I get hit with like a phantasm and just watch my health drop like mad!!! i want to counter that since another team runs in for melee attacks and can finish the job.

I use Armor of Earth to help with the melee attacks, helps alot.

Yeah, best thing to do for Phantasam is use Troll Unguent, if you have a good enough regen rate with it. (at least 5)

Or just make sure to keep your monk alive and feel the breeze.

Nothing counters a health degen like a nice 10 point regen. Heh.

Support your local monk, they are only there to keep you alive.

DOTs really hurt when you are lower levels, but as you get into the upper levels, you have a large enough pool of HP that they are not as effective. use self heals like aura of restoration or something and you should be fine..
